Do's & Don'ts
Guidelines for a respectful and comfortable visit
- Cover your head before entering Gurdwara premises
- Remove shoes and wash hands before entering
- Sit cross-legged on the floor in prayer halls
- Maintain silence and respect during prayers
- Follow the queue system for darshan
- Dress modestly and respectfully
- Keep mobile phones on silent mode
- Participate in langar seva if possible
- Follow instructions from volunteers and security
- Keep the premises clean and use dustbins
- Don't enter with shoes or head uncovered
- Don't smoke, consume alcohol, or use tobacco
- Don't point feet towards Guru Granth Sahib Ji
- Don't take photos during prayer ceremonies
- Don't talk loudly or create disturbance
- Don't wear revealing or inappropriate clothing
- Don't bring outside food into Gurdwara premises
- Don't touch sacred items without permission
- Don't push or rush in queues
- Don't litter or spit on premises
